Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente has underscored the vital importance of security in the socio-economic development of citizens, urging them to leverage it for improvement in their welfare. The premier made the observation on Friday, February 28, as he started a two-day field visit in the Northern and Western provinces. ALSO READ: Kagame says Rwanda’s security assured come 2025 “The most important thing is security – living in a secure country where you are able to sleep peacefully, such that you wake up in the morning and go to your work and carry it out safely,” Ngirente told residents of Burera District. “You have security, let’s safeguard it and make use of it,” he said, urging Rwandans to embrace work, highlighting its importance in combating poverty. https://x.com/PrimatureRwanda/status/1895465993700598168 As part of the visit, Ngirente joined farmers in Burera District to officially launch the 2025 agricultural season B, which runs from March to June. The TVET school, which offers training in trades such as wood technology and electricity, had 246 students. Ngirente also visited Noguchi Holdings, a textile factory in Burera District employing more than 400 young people. The factory produces garments for local and export market. ALSO READ: New textile firm to create over 600 jobs in Burera Under the National Strategy for Transformation (NST2), a five-year development programme, the government states that crime prevention and response, public order, safety, security, and territorial integrity will be sustained, and strengthened by continuous professionalization and capacity building of security organs to contribute to Rwanda’s socio-economic development. Under transformational governance pillar of NST2, government targets to increase the proportion of the population that is confident in both personal and property safety and security from 93 per cent in 2024 to 97 per cent in 2029.
