BPR Bank Rwanda Plc kicked off its 50th-anniversary celebrations with the official unveiling of a special commemorative logo and the opening of its new platinum branch at the bank’s headquarters in Kigali. The dual events, held on February 21, were attended by key figures, including the Board of Directors, management, staff, and valued customers. These initiatives highlight BPR's history as Rwanda’s largest branch network and underscore the bank’s ongoing commitment to customer-centric banking and its vision for continued growth and community development throughout the country. The anniversary festivities will unfold over the year, with the grand celebration set for August 4. ALSO READ: BPR at 50: A legacy of progress, A future focused on transformation In his remarks, George Rubagumya, the chairman of BPR Bank Rwanda, acknowledged the significance of the 50-year milestone, emphasising the continuous growth and transformation the bank experienced while also reflecting on the bank’s history. “This institution began as a union with a bank, later becoming Bank Populaire Rwanda. About three years ago, it merged with KCB Rwanda to form what is now BPR Bank Rwanda Limited, a publicly listed company with over 500,000 shareholders, many of whom are Rwandan nationals who were there at the beginning, and with our evolution and continuous growth in areas such as human capital, technology, and infrastructure to serve the dynamic needs of a new Rwanda,” he said. Rubagumya also highlighted BPR bank’s position at the forefront of the banking revolution in Rwanda noting that the banking industry is in a new era, reiterating the bank’s commitment to leverage its resources. “We are entering an exciting new phase in the banking industry. BPR Rwanda stands at the forefront of this transformation. We want to leverage our resources, including our talented workforce, nationwide network, and advanced technology, to provide exceptional banking services to the people of Rwanda,” he added. She explained that the newly launched branch is tailored to serve the bank’s exclusive customers providing a private and comfortable environment to meet their financial needs. “The platinum branch will be offering a range of services including personal and business bankers, trade service experts, and specialized staff to ensure customers receive a personalized experience,” she said. Mutesi emphasised that as part of the bank's ongoing digitalisation strategy, the platinum branch integrates digital services, offering customers a one-stop solution for modern banking. He said: “The experience has been great. This is my bank. I’ve been working with different people here. They are very welcoming. I would wish them to have 50 more years. Amazing years where they can grow bigger, they can provide different innovative products and services and continue to delight their customers.” Sebera described the bank’s new platinum branch as an ideal space for clients to receive faster and more efficient services.
