Rayon Sports’ title hopes were dealt to a major blow after Amagaju FC came from behind to hold them to a 1-1 draw at Huye Stadium on Saturday, February 22. It was a game of two halves as Rayon dominated the first 45 minutes before Amagaju FC came back strongly in the second half and eventually snatched an equalizer with 12 minutes to go. The Blues were without their talismanic skipper Kevin Muhire who picked an injury in the Peace Cup victory against Rutsiro FC on Tuesday. Winger Adama Bagayogo was also out of the game due to accumulated yellow cards. Rayon started the game with full venom as Fall Ngagne started tormenting the Amagaju back four. Going 1-0 up, Rayon piled more pressure on Amagaju FC but the home team brought more men back as they defended gallantly. After the break, Amagaju decided to tactically get out of their shells. They remained compact at the back but they managed to find spaces at the back of the Rayon Sports defense to exploit. Congolese striker Useni Seraphin Ciza pulled even for the home side in the 78th minute as they held on to a 1-1 draw until full time. The draw could see APR narrow the gap to just three points should they record a win against Mukura Victory Sports on Sunday which looks like a tall order. In other games, Muhazi United defeated Marines 2-0 at Ngoma Stadium while Musanze FC produced another magic in Kigali as they came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Police FC.
