Three Rwandan clubs —APR, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), and Police —are among 21 teams which have pre-registered for the 2025 Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship, scheduled to take place in Abuja, Nigeria, from April 1-14. The 2024 edition saw historic milestones, including Egyptian clubs competing in the Women’s Club World Championships for the first time. Zamalek Sporting Club emerged victorious over Al Ahly Sporting Club in a thrilling tie-break final. An all-Kenyan third-place playoff saw Kenya Pipeline Nairobi defeat Kenya Commercial Bank Nairobi 3-1 to claim the bronze medal. However, no Rwandan women’s club participated in the 2024 African Volleyball Championship. Rwanda's best result in African club competitions came in 2022 when Gisagara Volleyball Club achieved third place in the men's African Volleyball Club Championship. ALSO READ: 18 teams confirmed for CAVB zone V club championship in Uganda Gertrude Kubwimana, the Technical Director of the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB), confirmed the pre-registrations of three Rwandan clubs APR, RRA, and Police, but emphasized that the list is not yet final. Only three Rwandan clubs have registered, but it’s not the final list which will be updated and made official on March 13th, Kubwimana told Times Sport. Times Sport understands that participation in the championship is subject to final confirmation from the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB). The 21 teams pre-registered for the continental club volleyball championship include Nigeria Customs Service (Nigeria), Al Ahly Sporting Club (Egypt), Zamalek Sporting Club (Egypt), AS Douanes Volleyball Club (Burkina Faso), Sococim Volleyball Club (Senegal), Volleyball Club La Grace, Volleyball Club La Loi, National Alcohol and Liquor Factory, Club Feminin De Carthage and Force Armees et Police (Cameroon). Others include Litto Team Volleyball (Cameroon), Maya Kane Evolution (Cameroon), Spiking Stars Volleyball Club (Botswana), Club Omnisports Descartes, Queen’s Volleyball Club (Benin), Kenya Prisons Volleyball Club (Kenya), Kenya Commercial Bank Volleyball Club (Kenya), and Kenya Pipeline Company Volleyball Club (Kenya).
