Only Division Two teams will participate in this year’s Heroes basketball tournament, Rwanda Basketball Federation (Ferwaba) has said. This year’s edition of the competition will take place from January 29 to February 2 at Lycee de Kigali gymnasium. This year, the teams that will play the Heroes competition will be only from D2 because D1 is currently playing the league and will immediately continue with the Rwanda Cup,” Phiona Ishimwe, Executive Director at FERWABA, told Times Sport. The tournament was last held in 2019, and that year’s competition saw Rwanda Energy Group (REG) beat Patriots 92-72 to take the trophy in the men's category. In the women’s category, The Hoops Rwanda claimed the trophy. The teams participating in this year's tournament are: UR Kigali, CBT, Black Thunders, Keplerians, Greater Virunga, Kicukiro Buckets, Agahozo Shalom, EAUR and Kigali Elite.
