Rayon Sports fans have pledged to raise over Rwf 77 million to clear the debts that the club has been grappling with. The debts arose from unpaid players’ signing fees and salaries for both the players and support staff. Ahead of the start of the second round of the Rwanda Premier League (RPL) season 2025, a number of the club’s fans met together for a fundraising event, out of which a total of more than Rwf 70 million was pledged. I am also calling upon every Rayon Sports fan and anyone who loves football to contribute so that this debt is settled once and for all,” said Jean-Claude Muhawenimana, Rayon Sports fan. The fans pledged to have settled the debt by February 2. Rayon Sports president Thaddee Twagirayezu, promised the fans that the debt problem will soon end. “We are taking good steps in order to end this problem,” he noted. However, the team has struggled to sign new players to strengthen its squad this January, arguably due to financial challenges.
