Kenyan-based Amani Cycling Team began a residential training camp in Kenya on Tuesday, January 21, ahead of the 17th edition of the Tour du Rwanda, scheduled for February 23 to March 2. The team is led by Rwandan rider Eric Muhoza, who traveled to Kenya to join the one-month preparations. It’s important to prepare early for this competition. Our goal is to have a successful campaign this year and win more medals, Umuhoza said in a media interview before his trip to Kenya. Amani focuses on developing East African talent, with riders like Rwandans Eric Muhoza and Samuel Niyonkuru expected to participate. Muhoza, who raced with Germany’s Bike Aid team in 2023, is among the standout riders for Amani. The Amani Project, founded in 2019, aims to create racing opportunities for East African cyclists and promote inclusivity in the sport. Tour du Rwanda 2025 will feature 812 kilometers of racing. The longest stage, spanning 158 kilometers, will run between Rukomo in Gicumbi and Kayonza. Since becoming an international event, Tour du Rwanda has grown, with the 2025 edition being its seventh year at the 2.1 classification.
