Chinese firm donates to Rita

A Chinese company, HUAWEI Technologies, has donated telecommunication equipment worth millions of Francs to Rwanda Information and Technology Authority (Rita). The equipments which include video conference, networking gadgets, were used to telecast the just-concluded ‘Connect Africa’ summit at Serena Hotel Kigali.Both organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the donation on Sunday at Serena Hotel Kigali.The MoU, which was signed by Rita Executive Director Nkubito Bakuramutsa and the Vice President of HUAWEI Technologies, Fan Hui, also included long-term partnership between both organisations.Under the deal, HUAWEI Technologies will help train local engineers.The State Minister for Energy and Communication Eng. Albert Butare, who attended the function said: “We shall partner with HUAWEI Technologies in all fields to increase technology and ICT capacity in Rwanda.” The signing ceremony was attended by among others, the Chinese deputy minister for Information Industry, Lou Qinjian and the UN Undersecretary General Ambassador Shah Zhukang.Ends
