Two Rwandan Karatekas, Salvien Twagirumukiza, 17, and Tony Gisa, 11, have made their mark at the Southern Africa WUKF Open Championship in Windhoek, Namibia, bringing home top honours for the country. ALSO READ: PHOTOS: Day one of the fifth JKA-Rwanda international technical seminar Twagirumukiza led the charge, striking two gold medals including one in the Kata (Karate demonstration) category and another in the Kumite (fighting) bouts. Gisa also climbed to the podium after claiming a silver medal in the Kumite category. The duo is part of the Japan Karate Association (JKA) Rwanda team led by Guy Rurangayire. The Southern Africa WUKF Open Championship kicked off on September 17 and concluded Saturday, September 21. It attracted nearly 1,000 athletes from across the region.
