FEATURED: Liquid Telecom launches platform to support business digitisation

Liquid Intelligent Technologies Rwanda has launched the Microsoft Azure Stack Hub (ASH), a business cloud platform that is expected to help businesses digitise their operations. The launch took place on Thursday, May 12 at Ubumwe Grand Hotel. Alexis Kabeja, CEO at Liquid Intelligent Technologies Rwanda said that the covid-19 pandemic has disrupted many things including the telecommunication sector, and people have been looking for ways to work remotely. He said that for instance, during the pandemic there was a time people were obliged to work from home and that is what has pushed people to start looking for available solutions for them to keep working. Kabeja further explained that as Liquid telecommunication, even before covid-19, they had actually started on the transformation journey of digitising operations internally, but also thinking about their customers. He revealed that this is the beginning of digitising operations focusing on their customers, and mentioned that last year they started the implementation of the cloud. Speaking about this platform they launched, he reiterated that it is a Microsoft solution that has various benefits for the users such as security and compliance in terms of hosting data locally. “Most of the people wonder where their data is hosted,” he said, adding that ASH is a solution to that issue as well as where the data will be stored locally in a liquid data centre, “All the data will be stored locally which brings the element of security and compliance,” he said adding that, “on top of that, we are using a carrier-grade solution for Microsoft to be able to host those services and billing will be in Rwandan Francs instead of USD.” Alexis Kabeja, CEO at Liquid Intelligent Technologies Rwanda speaks at the launch of the Microsoft Azure Stack Hub in Kigali on Thursday, May 12. / Courtesy He pointed out that they will support all their customers and explained that they have a team of highly skilled cloud engineers. In case of any issue, the customers will be able to contact the engineer locally as well as interact in the local language (Kinyarwanda). “There is also an element of education and training and we are available whenever the customers will need to understand how to utilise this platform, to improve the productivity of businesses as well as the collaboration within the company,” he added. Speaking about what the customers should expect, he said that they will help them to work on the career-grade solution and save costs, as well as help them increase their productivity. He also emphasised that this solution is not specifically for a particular business, it’s for all businesses. “As Liquid, we are supporting companies, government, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), mobile operators, or other telecom operators to digitise their operations,” Kabeja said.
