Cogebanque Plc clients can now easily transfer money from their bank accounts to any Airtel Money wallet and vice-versa without incurring any cost. This is after the launch of the Push and Pull partnership between Airtel and Cogebanque on Thursday October 28. This partnership, according to Guillaume Ngamije Habarugira, Chief Executive of Cogebanque Plc, comes to ease the financial burden on their customers in terms of accumulated costs while carrying out transactions. “Our joint interests are promoting the development and growth of our target customers and help them make their lives easier by reducing the cost of transactions such as transport money and time,” he said. Emanuel Hamez, Managing Director, Airtel Rwanda said it is very important to add all the ecosystems to interconnection as now people can send money to and fro bank and Airtel money wallet using USSD code. “This partnership between Congebanque Plc and Airtel Money will not only benefit our mutual current and potential clients to enjoy conducting transactions remotely through digital payment platforms but also support the Rwandan cashless economy vision,” he said. However, he said they are still in a process of putting the new feature on the telco’s App called My Airtel. This follows the integration of the bank and telecom provider, where the two companies extended their distribution networks that include 28 branches, 36 ATMs, over 600 bank agents. This includes also the diverse digital banking delivery services such as the 43 Airtel Service Centres, more than 1,700 Kiosks and 71 Airtel Money branches. In August, the Central Bank has announced that no charges or fees will be incurred when transferring funds from one’s bank account to a mobile money wallet. A directive that took effect after the Central Bank had commissioned a study on the pricing of digital financial services as a majority of users lamented that it (Push and Pull charges) risked undoing gains made in previous months in cashless payments uptake.
