ANGELO JAWANZA, real name Angelo Niyomungeri, is one of the leading new school artistes that made it to Voice of America, a renowned American international broadcaster. The upcoming artiste started his music journey with one of the best producers in Rwanda ‘Dizo Last’, who recorded his first song ‘Not Ready’. According to Angelo, Jawanza is a name that he chose because of its significance, which means ‘a warrior.’ In an interview with The New Times, Angelo said that he always felt the need to do music, but waited to first finish high school in order to avoid distractions. He grew up with friends who used to hook him up with songs from the likes of Lucky Dube, Bob Marley, Whitney Houston, Eminem and 50 cent, which is something that attracted his attention for music. “From then, I started loving music and thats when Dizo and I came up with an idea of creating a music Label which we named Ratio Music.” “I credit many achievements in this industry to Dizo, not only as a business partner, but a brother I met way back that had my back when I wanted to create music,” he added. The upcoming artiste features on Dizo last’s new album Friday Playlist, on songs like ’Freeman’, and ‘Besto’ featuring his sister Weya Viatora. Angelo was born in the southern part of Rwanda in a small town called Huye, and later relocated to Kacyiru, Kigali where he grew up, and lives at the moment. Joining the music scene, he was inspired by many things including his sister Weya Viatora, a renowned female artiste in Rwanda, who always plugged her to new sounds in town. Angelo revealed that he has been off for a while, but promised his fans to drop new music this month. Ratio Music is a music label that signed some of the top Rwandan hip-hop artistes like B Threy and Trizzie 96.
