The local football governing body (FERWAFA) has slapped a six-month ban against Police FC defender Samuel Ndizeye over assaulting a referee. A closer look at referee Umutoni and FERWAFA's decision “Samuel Ndizeye has been found guilty of confronting the referee and assaulting him at the end of the Sunrise match. He is therefore banned from all football activities in Rwanda for a period of six months, a statement released by the FA on February 9 partly reads. Ndizeye has been serving a temporary suspension since the day he got involved into altercation with referee Nsabimana at full time as the defender protested the referee’s decision to disallow Dominique Savio Nshuti’s goal for offside. There were heated tensions between the pair, leading Ndizeye to head butt both Nsabimana and a security guard who intervened to stop the tensions, causing the latter to bleed in the nose and mouth. Referee Aline Umutoni showed the defender a straight red card. Times Sport understands that Ndizeye has appealed against the ban which, if maintained, could see him out of action for the remainder of the season.
