Talent show fundraises for diabetic children

About Rwf600,000 was collected during a talent show organised to raise funds for diabetic children at Hilltop Hotel on Saturday. Students from Kagarama Secondary School, Green Hills Academy and Fawe Girls School participated in the show, whose proceeds will go to Mwulire Diabetes Centre in Rwamagana to help diabetic children. Students from Green Hill Academy showcased modern dance. The event was organized by Rotaract club of Kigali City and Natete Rotaract Club from Uganda. The students performed both traditional and contemporary dances, and modeling, among others. Kagarama Secondary School students try out modelling. Different items were auctioned and the proceeds were also channeled to the diabetes cause. Crispin Gishoma, the Director of Rwanda Diabetes Center, told those who attended the talent show that it was great to have young people who think about saving the Rwandan lives. A cross section of people turned up in a big numbers. “We used to think of helping diabetic children in different ways, and seeing the young generation with the hearts of helping their fellow children through art is something that should be emulated. We believe that whether big or small, the funds that have been raised can make a difference. We thank these young people for their courage and kind hearts,” he said. Media personality Arnold Kwizera was one of the judges. Centurion President; Paul Master Jab; who was also a guest speaker at the event thanked the young people for helping the communities. “You are not here by accident; you are here for a purpose and because of your kind hearts. This proves that you can change the world. If each one of you can take an initiative and decide to do something to save the lives of children, the world can definitely be a better place,” he noted.
