Editor, RE: “BNR faults speculators for weakening franc” (The New Times, July 30). Diaspora remittances and foreign aid have limits. We either ‘grow’ more industries and focus on value added exports or continue our historical downward spiral. The trade deficit will continue to impact on our economy. We have always had speculators and the answer to the depreciation of the franc is not to crack down on forex bureaus operators as this will not fix our trade deficit. Daoud
