Neymar carrying too much weight for Brazil

IN SPORTS, NOT JUST FOOTBALL, every team has a star player to rely on and they are always expected to deliver top performances in every game. When the going gets tough, these sorts of players are expected to be the tough ones to get their team going--you could say, they are not expected to under-perform no matter what. At the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, each team has had a top man to carry his team to the holy grail, and for the hosts, that player is Neymar, the little boy, who is having to shoulder the hopes of over 200 millions Brazilians. Argentina have Lionel Messi, Germany has Thomas Muller, Costa Rica has Joel Campbell, Colombia has James Rodriguez, Holland has Arjen Robben, Belgium has Eden Hazard, while for France, it’s difficult to chose who their top man is, but Mathieu Valbuena has to be. All these players have been outstanding for their teams so far at this year’s finals, but none, apart from maybe Messi for Argentina, has had to carry the weight of high expectations for their nations almost single handedly than Neymar. Neymar is the symbol of the current Brazil team no doubt about that and you imagine how it would feel like if he was to miss their quarterfinal clash against South American rivals Colombia on Friday in Fortaleza. Filipe Scolari’s team has scored only eight goals in four matches and Neymar has chipped in half of them, which shows how important he is to his team. There has been doubt about his fitness for the Colombia clash after suffering minor knee and thigh injuries during the game against Chile in the las round, but those fears have been brushed aside by the player himself, who, as you would imagine, would do anything to be ready to continue carrying the Samba hopes.
