Second Division League Semi final, return leg - YesterdaySEC 1-1 Isonga (1-2*) Final, SundayIsonga vs. Sunrise (Amahoro Stadium) ISONGA football club has bounced back into the Turbo King Football league after edging out SEC academy to storm the finals of this year’s second division league. The youthful side went into the return leg played yesterday at Kicukiro turf with a 1-goal aggregate and a 29th minute strike from Hakim Tuyisenge cemented their place. SEC Academy who squandered many opportunities scored an equaliser through Isaac Muganza after getting a penalty deep in the second half though it was not enough to save them. They needed at least a 3-2 win to enable them progress to the finals but Yves Rwasamanzi’s side stood firm to their grip and denied them a chance of breaking through their solid defence, to qualify 2-1 on aggregate. The youthful side was relegated to second division in 2013 and went on to release all the players with an aim of fielding younger players such as Bertrand Iradukunda, Masura Sinzira, Saleh Ndayisenga and Rashid Kalisa to compete in this year’s second division. Isonga FC was founded three years ago as a composition of players, who played in the U-17 African Youth Championship and the Fifa World Cup. The team was promoted to the U-20 level and registered to play in the national league without going through the second division. They finished sixth in their debut 2011/12 season but failed to maintain the impressive form in the 2012/13 season, which saw them relegated to the second-tier league. The club has produced upcoming talented footballers such as Latif Bishira (AS Kigali), Patrick Sibomana (APR), Yves Rwigema (Academie Futelite-Spain), Anderson Neza (Academie Futelite-Spain), Robert Ndatimana (Rayon), and APR trio of Eric Rutanga, Sulaiman Kakira, Olivier Kwizera among others. They will now feature in the 2014/15 season alongside other finalists Sunrise from Eastern Province who beat Bugesera 3-1 on aggregate in the semi finals last week to snatch their maiden ticket to the top flight league. Isonga will face Eastern Province giants Sunrise in the final scheduled to be played on Sunday at Amahoro stadium. The finalists will also replace AS Muhanga and Esperance who were relegated from the top flight league in the just concluded season.
