Israeli diplomat Einat Weiss has arrived in the country to assume her new role as her country's envoy to Rwanda.

On Wednesday, August 16, the Israeli Ambassador-designate met with Rwanda's foreign minister Dr Vincent Biruta and is expected to officially present her Letters of Credence to President Paul Kagame in the coming days.

She arrives in Rwanda just days after Amb. Ron Adam completed his tour of duty having served out his four-year tenure as Israel's top diplomat to Rwanda. Adam was Israel's first resident ambassador in Kigali.

During the ceremony, Biruta congratulated Weiss on her new role and extended a warm welcome on behalf of Rwanda. The event highlighted the strong and positive bilateral cooperation that already exists between Rwanda and Israel.

In her remarks, Ambassador-designate Weiss expressed her commitment to strengthening the partnership between the two countries. She emphasized various areas of mutual interest, such as technology and innovation, modernizing precision agriculture, education, healthcare, tourism promotion, investment, and more.

Before her appointment to Rwanda, Weiss held the position of Minister-Counselor for Political Affairs at the Embassy of Israel in Washington DC starting in August 2016.

Her extensive diplomatic career also includes serving as an Advisor to the Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as a Spokesperson, Public Relations Officer, and Political Advisor at the Embassy of Israel in Canberra, Australia from 2010 to 2013.

Weiss also brings experience from the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she served as a Desk Officer. Prior to her diplomatic roles, she worked as Deputy Director at the International Relations Division of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce.

She holds a Master's degree in Diplomacy from Tel Aviv University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Communication from Haifa University.
