The two archrivals meet today in the Turbo King Football League first round match at Amahoro national stadium. Kickoff is 3:30pm. All eyes will be on striker Meddie Kagere, when he comes up against his former team which he called home for three fruitful seasons but without winning any trophy. Kagere signed for Rayon Sports from Police FC this season. The Rwandan international forward has netted once in the league and will be gearing to shoot down his old club to prove that it was a big mistake to let him leave for their rivals. In the absence of Salita Kambale, Ugandan import Samson Jakeshi, who scored a brace against Amagaju on Wednesday, is expected to start alongside Kagere. Supporters of both clubs, full of tension, are eagerly waiting to find out whether their teams are genuine title contenders or pretenders. Defending champions Rayon Sports, who top the league on 10 points, will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start, while Police will go into the game seeking to win and close the gap to two points. Rayon Sports coach Didier Gomes da Rosa said yesterday his team is ready for the game against Sam Ssimbwa’s side that has won one, drawn two and lost one coming into today’s clash. While Rayon won their previous match against Amagaju 4-0, Police were just seconds away from a famous win before being held 2-2 by APR thanks to an injury time own goal by midfielder Fabrice Twagizimana.  "It’s going to be a very tough game, make no mistake about it, but my team is ready. We need the three points to enhance our chance of retaining the title, though it’s too early to start talking of defending the title,” the Frenchman told Saturday Sport on Friday.Rayon top the table thanks to a superior number of goals scored, six as compared to five and three goals for second-placed Musanze and Espoir in third place. Police sit in eighth position with five points and defeat would leave them with a mammoth mountain to climb in the title race. To avoid dropping further, Ssimbwa’s side must remain confident and hold hope of turning around their season by winning today’s match. Elsewhere, in Rubavu, Etincelles and Marines will clash in the biggest game of the season for both teams, who use Umuganda stadium as their home ground. Also today AS Kigali host winless AS Muhanga at Stade de Kigali. Etincelles, who have won two and drawn two matches, will go into the match as favourites to win against Marines, who lost 1-0 to AS Kigali midweek and stand in the 11th position with three points. AS Kigali, in fourth position with nine points, will be eager to extend their good start against AS Muhanga, who are 13th with just one point. On Sunday, second-place Musanze will host third-placed Espoir hoping to win and put themselves three points clear and on the same day, record 13-times league champions, APR will come up against Jean Baptiste Kayiranga’s Gicumbi FC at Stade de Kigali.
