Rwanda’s lead professional golfer Jean Baptiste Hakizimana missed the cut in the Abu Dhabi Golf Citizen Open on Wednesday. It was his third miss in as many tournaments on his debut appearance in the Mena Golf Tour.

Hakizimana, who had shot four over par 76 on the first day, carded six over par 80 on the second day, hence failing to make the cut with gross score of 156. The Kigali golf club-based player, who had also played in the Shaikh Maktoum Dubai Classic and the Ras Al Khaimah Classic, failed to make the cut in both with gross scores of 154 and 150 respectively.

Other East African golfers to miss the cut are Kenya’s Hardeep Thethy, who shot eight over par to make a gross total score of 152, Ugandans Deo Akope, who shot ten over par to make gross total score of 154 and Dennis Anguyo, who shot 16 over par to end with a gross total score of 160.

Kenya’s Grew Snow is the only regional player who made the cut after carding 7 over par to make gross total score of 151 after two days.

Hakizimana, who is making his debut on the Mena Golf Tour, will now be seeking to do better in the Qatar Classic set for October 27-30 so as to enhance his chances of making his debut of the European Pro Challenge next year.

The Qatar Classic will be held at Doha Golf Club in Doha. It is an 18-hole, 7,374-yard, par 72 Championship course. The Doha Golf Club is also one of the first grass golf course ever built in the Middle East.
