Defending champions Rayon Sports walloped Amagaju 4-0 to go top of the Turbo King Football League table in a match played yesterday at Nyagisenyi ground in Nyamagabe.

Didier Domes da Rosa’s team opened the goal scoring extravaganza through skipper Faudi Ndayisenga after just 13 minutes through a penalty spot and new signing Samson Jakesh opened his Rayon Sports account with a first hat trick of the season  in the 23rd, 53rd and 88th minutes respectively.

Ndayisenga, who was returning to the team after serving his suspension following his sending off in the opening game, dispatched the resulting penalty after Amagaju skipper Yumba Kaite brought down Amiss Cedric in the forbidden area.

But the highlight of the day would belong to new Ugandan import Jakesh, who became the first player to net a hat trick in the league this season. This could put the Amagaju head coach Abdul Mbarushimana’s job on line-as his team has lost all four matches.

The win takes the Blues to the top of the league table with 10 points level with second-placed Musanze and Espoir in third place, but with a better goal difference.

Early season surprise packages, Musanze and Espoir both continued their impressive form with wins over Muhanga and Kiyovu SC respectively.

Former Amavubi Stars striker Said Abed Makasi netted the only goal as Emmanuel Mbarushimana’s Espoir compounded further misery on Kiyovu’s new coach Gilbert Yaounde Kanyankole, who remains without a win after drawing three games and losing one.

Musanze, under Tanzania-born side Barrack Hussein beat AS Muhanga away 3-0. AS Muhanga coach Ali Bizimungu’s job could also be on line after managing one point in four games.

At Stade de Kigali, it ended 2-2 between Police and APR with midfielder Fabrice Twagizimana scoring a 95th minute own goal to deny Sam Ssimbwa a memorable win against the record 13-times Rwandan champions.

New signing Michel Ndahinduka put APR in-front after just three minutes on the clock and his goal stood until former Mukura defender Gabriel Mugabo equalised for Police in the 53rd minute following a mistake by Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza, who failed to clear the ball in box.

Amavubi striker Jacques Tuyisenge made it 2-1 for Ssimbwa’s team with a quarter of an hour left through a penalty after central defender Emery Bayisenge brought down Peter Kagabo in the box and referee Hudu Munyemena did not hesitate to give the spot kick.

Police looked organised after taking the lead and looked set to bag all three points until the last of the five minutes of added time when Twagizimana scored in his own net when his intended back pass was missed by his goalkeeper Alexis Ganza.

The look on Ssimbwa’s face could tell he was extremely disappointed to lose a game he more than deserved top win, while the celebration on the other side showed a degree of relief.
