APR midfielder Taddeo Lwanga is in the Uganda provisional squad for their AFCON qualifier against Niger.

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic has named APR midfielder Taddeo Lwanga in his 33-man provisional squad for the final Group F qualifier for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations that will take place in Cote d’Ivoire.

The team will start a training camping at Paradise Hotel, Kisasi, on Monday, August 28 ahead of their crucial qualifier against Niger.

Conspicuously missing from the list is Rayon Sports winger Joachiam Ojera who is yet to be capped by his country at senior level despite his fine form at the Blues since last season.

The diminutive attacker mesmerized APR with a superb performance last weekend as the Blues thrashed the military side 3-0 in the FERWAFA Super Cup and many supporters of the Cranes are worried about his omission from the squad.

Uganda will lock horns with Niger on September 7 at Grand Stade Marrakech in Morocco and they must win the game and also hope that Algeria beat Tanzania for them to qualify for the 2023 AFCON finals.

The Cranes are currently third in Group F with four points from four matches.
