School children will leave to remember the 2013 Day of the Girl Child celebrations that were held on Saturday at Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre (IPRC) Kicukiro. They were treated to great music from the Deejays and free eats and drinks. As if that was not enough they were given a surprise performance from King James who made the young ones go wild. The students showed much love for the star’s songs as they sang along with him every verse. The 2012 Primus Guma Guma Superstar winner stormed the stage after the speech of the guest of honour, the Minister of Gender and Family and Promotion Oda Gasinzigwa. The Parapara singer did his famous songs, Biracyaza and Ndakwizera which were well known to the children. What made the children’s day was when the hit maker called on the kids to dance with him on stage to enjoy their day even better. The children hurriedly flocked the stage to give the star company as others flexed to at least stand next to him.During the day which was locally celebrated under the theme, "I am a girl, with a vision, value, my education, my right my future”, the students were urged to explore their talents and be innovative.Globally, the day which was adopted in 2011 was celebrated under the theme ‘Innovating for Girls Education’
