Burera district Mayor, Aime Bosenibamwe has appealed to area sector and cells leaders to focus on result-oriented activities in order to ensure sustainable development.

The Mayor was speaking at a meeting on Monday, that brought together local authorities, area Bank Managers, agronomists, and representatives of cooperatives.

It was convened to asses the progress made in realising economic transformation in each Sector.

"We can not claim changing the society if one’s character is not changed, we need to change our way of thinking, way of work and the time management,’’ Bosenibamwe said.

His remarks were prompted after a number of sector leaders arrived late for the meeting. He sounded a stern warning against the late comers.

While reviewing their achievements, the vice mayor in charge of economic affairs Joseph Zaraduhaye, said the programme of One Cow One Family  had benefited 20 per cent, of the residents, establishing cooperatives stands at 54 per cent, while terracing stands 20 per cent .

Zaraduhaye urged residents to stick to the growing of pyrethrum, maracuja and wheat the specialised crops which were allocated to the district.

On the same day, the district launched exemplary hills commonly referred to as Agasozi Indatwa, to be set up in each village.

Residents are supposed to practice modern agro farming on each of the established hills. At the meeting, bank managers asked the local authorities to help them track people who have failed to pay the loans lent to them before they can start loaning out more funds.
