Espoir head coach Jean Bahufite has hailed his players’ effort after winning the national basketball league title for a second consecutive season.

The still unbeaten Nyamirambo side will celebrate their fifth league title on Sunday when they play away against Rusizi in the final match of the season.

The champions have won all their 12 regular season games to remain the only unbeaten team in the country since the start of last season and have the opportunity to make it 13 straight wins.

Bahufite’s team have 24 points, five ahead of second-placed Kigali Basketball Club and today’s opponents, Rusizi.

"It has been another incredible season for us, my players did their best and I must thank every one of them for making sure we set yet another record of defending the title with an unbeaten record,” the former Espoir and national team player, Bahufite told Sunday Sport.
