How I became a chauffeur

My cousin was away from home for a month and the best thing he did was leave me his car. You can’t imagine how many times I actually wanted to go to school!

I am not saying I dodge class a lot but there are times when someone has to dodge at least once or twice. During this time, I didn’t miss any class because I wanted all the university students to see me. Much as I was ‘stealing the show’, after class, I would look like a special hire taxi driver. All the people that knew me wanted me to give them a lift. It is when I learnt that it’s quite easy to identify someone who is getting a lift. They tend to use very little space, and if they have a bag with them, they place it on their laps as if to reserve space in an already spacious car. Then the worst part of it is that they bring up the most boring topics. "This building is going up so fast, and recently I read in the papers that the government is constructing a mall here and there,” they say trying to be entertaining. Honestly, isn’t it enough that I was in a three hour lecture? Sadly no cute girl has ever asked me for a lift. It went on like this till one lady, whom I gave a lift once, started making it a habit. I would always find her in front of her house and when she would see my car, she would walk to the road like as if I was her driver. One day, I delayed and found her almost getting a taxi. When she saw me, she immediately turned and ordered me to stop. It had ceased being funny. Some days she would even call or text telling me how late I was. Yeah – she got my number!  This lady got so comfortable that one morning when it was raining and I stopped to give some students a lift to town, she complained. Apparently they didn’t deserve it. When my cousin came back, people had forgotten what it is like to use public transport and you don’t want to know how many friends I lost!
