The men were clad in West African traditional Kaftan wear and the ladies equally opted for the traditional attire. The conversations and laughter could be heard amidst winning and dinning. This was the mood as the Nigerian community in Rwanda celebrated Nigeria’s 53rd independence anniversary on Tuesday evening.

The celebration which took place at the residence of the High Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Kagugu, Kigali also attracted senior government officials, and members of the diplomatic corps and prominent members of the business community and well-wishers also graced the event. 

In his welcome remarks, Peter Ayibakuro Ogide-Oke, the Nigerian High Commissioner to Rwanda pledged to strengthen the existing bilateral ties between Rwanda and Nigeria.

The occasion did not only see the reunification of Nigerians, but it was also an opportunity for guests to network and exchange contacts. 

Guests were treated to mouth watering buffet of and Nigerian delicacies and beverages. The DJ played various tunes that included P-Square’s renditions of Chop My Money, No One like You and Flavour’s hit track, Nwa Baby to liven up the function.

The event ended at 11pm.
