Sneaking through your messages, is he?

Once, an ex of a friend decided it was a brilliant idea to go through her Facebook inbox messages. Let me explain that even though he had every right to fire up the way he did when he discovered some not-so-innocent conversations, she felt seriously violated!

For one, what level of insanity gave him the courage to think that he could just go into her inbox anyhow and read things that didn’t concern him? Two, considering she has never looked to see the caller ID on his phone every time it rings, you’d think he would offer the same courtesy! And three, to put it simply, who does that?

When she spoke to a few close friends (including myself) about the matter, we were madder than she was. How dare he? We asked. As the story unfolded, we were even more appalled to find out that the hacker (how else did he get into her inbox) was now acting like he had the right to be mad. He seriously expects you to apologise? We wondered.

Well, in all sincerity, she did exchange a few naughty words with guys that weren’t her boyfriend. But hey, a little cyber flirt never killed anyone, did it? So perhaps one said something about how beautiful she is, and that he was just dying to meet her acquaintance. That does not mean she felt the same way – even though the response said otherwise!

What I am trying to say is, women – at least the ones honest with themselves- love attention. If some guy online is going to clog her inbox everyday with messages of just how hot she is and she is not strong enough to tell him to sod off, she will let the lad express himself.

Nice as the messages make her feel, that is all they are – messages. So maybe some women take internet flirting to another level, but we are not the same. Besides, you have no idea what shady crap guys are up to anyway. I say this because after this chick thought things through and realised it wouldn’t be a fair game till she sneaked a peak into his phone, she was shocked by the discovery.

The goon was there busy sending Whatsapp messages to an ex. In these texts, other than claims of missing her like a problem (and thinking about the nights they spent together), were numerous hearts to show just how much he loved her. When confronted, the silly man claimed that the person he was sending the messages to was a friend. Of all the lies he could come up with, he just added salt to the wound by insulting her intelligence.

What is he doing missing the nights he spent with ‘a friend’ – more so one his girlfriend has never even met or heard of? People need to come up with better lies. When he realised his lie was worse than his crime, he came clean and claimed they were harmless messages and that the ex was miles away and not a threat! Boy is he lucky he’s not my boyfriend – a few slaps would’ve been in order!

With married folks, it’s different. When dating, you simply do not have the right! Besides, haven’t you ever heard of not putting all your eggs in one basket? Call it a reason to be shady, it is what it is!
