GICUMBI — The rehabilitation of the four kilometer Kigali-Gatuna, highway will start in August this year, an official said.

According to the in-charge of road works at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Innocent Mushumba, Horizon Construction Company has been contracted to carry out the repair. But the entire road would be rehabilitated next year.

"The rehabilitation of the entire Kigali to Gatuna highway shall start next year with funding from European Union,” said Mushumba.

Drivers of transit trucks say the damaged part of the road has been a long standing problem to traffic especially during the rain season.

Earlier, members of Northern Province Private Sector Federation had expressed concern over the badly damaged part, during their assessment tour of Pembe wheat factory and area local entrepreneurs.
