RWANDA’S SILVERBACKS put on two substandard performances as they lost their two opening Pool E matches in the Safaricom Safari Sevens at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Saturday. 

The Silverbacks, who were due to face Kenyan side Mwamba in their final group match yesterday, were beaten by South African league side Western Province 31-0 and Kenya’s second string national team Shujaa 62-0. 

In the schools competition, Rwanda U-21 team bowed out despite registering a win, a draw and two losses. Kyadondo of Uganda won all their matches to lead the table. They scored 19 tries plus 12 conversions to book a semifinal slot. 

Rift Valley was second, scoring twelve tries and six conversions with the third spot going to Nairobi, who had eleven tries and three conversions. 

Rwanda scored four tries and converted three times, while Eastern had three tries and two conversions from their four matches. 

Rift Valley’s good performance came off two wins, one draw and one loss while Nairobi had two wins and two losses. Rwanda recorded one win, two losses and a draw with Eastern ending up winless. 

By press time, Kenya’s Western region was set to play Rift Valley in the first semi-final, while Kyadondo were set to face Nyanza in the second semi-final.
