Among 87 models who registered for the contest, only 44 were selected to compete and stand a chance to participate at the most prestigious runways to be held around the world this year.

Organised by Embrace Africa, the model contest’s goal is to send Rwandan models to world fashion events that have developed famous top models like Naomi Campbell and Gisele Bundchen who are among the three top paid models in the world. These models have also participated at Victoria Secret, a famous and strong fashion stage that is arguably not easy to be at.

The winners for last year’s edition attended Supermodel Worldwide in India, The look of the Year held in Italy and Fashion Factor season 5 held in Dubai.

The contest will have the overall winner among the top three final winners who will join more events to develop herself completely in this Industry.

The models will be judged by International Fashion events Owners and International Models to make sure the selected models have the potential of giving the models more chances to go far.

Paulette Ndekwe, the organizer of the contest, told The New Times that the first edition opened doors to three models resulting in an international award and featured in a magazine in the US.

"This was a good sign that the future might hold more improvements in this event, especially for all types of models without basing on some preferable looks like in the past. We want to make everyone know that however they look, their dream matters and they can really go far, and we proved that it's possible.

She added that the event could impact young people’s lives and build a career instead of wasting time in things that might ruin them like drugs, robbery and begging, just to mention a few.
