Local leaders should include, in their plans, promoting of reading culture through community libraries, library usage and improved library services, the director of Rwanda Library services (RLS), Jennifer Turatsinze, said."We want to encourage people to use  community libraries and local leaders must play   their role in increasing the number of  people taking advantage of those libraries,” Turatsinze said on Wednesday as the Ministry of Sports and Culture through RLS launched a   book and reading week festival to promote the culture of reading as well as library usage."Libraries are meeting places and learning centres where people acquire computer literacy.” According Turatsinze, the reading culture is still low in Rwanda.Turatsinze cited among the current challenges insufficient libraries, expensive books and other reading materials among the causes of poor reading culture.
