Rwanda to face Uganda U-17 cricket in friendly matches

RWANDA U17 boys’ national cricket team will play a series of friendly matches with their Ugandan counterparts starting on Friday to Sunday at the Kicukiro Oval.

RWANDA U17 boys’ national cricket team will play a series of friendly matches with their Ugandan counterparts starting on Friday to Sunday at the Kicukiro Oval.

The Uganda team which is expected to arrive in the country today (Thursday) by road, will play a total of six T20 games against the Rwandan team, according to Rwanda Cricket Association’s General Manager Joshua Mwanja.

Mwanja told Times Sport yesterday, "The friendly matches are aimed at preparing our national U-17 team ahead of the regional youth tournament expected for December.”

He added, "In order for us to improve we need to play more with the regional teams because they are on a high level. We hope to do this even for other Rwanda national teams.”

Head coach Eric Dusabemungu said, "The boys are getting better and more competitive every other day and we hope to win majority of the games.”

Hussein Byamungu, Eric Ndangamyambi, Wilson Niyonkizo, Eric Niyomugabo, Hirwa Alain Dube, Christian Tatingabo, Bryson Bugingo, Charles Ruzibiza, Zappy Bimenyimana, Orchide Tuyisenge, Charles Karasira, Muvunyi Valence, Rwabiso Mark and Ndayambaje Wilson.
