The place we all hate to be…the friend zone

Well most of us have lived and survived the experience of being put in the horrible friend zone. For those who do not know what the definition of the friend zone, it is loosely when you  like someone and do things with them thinking it may lead to a relationship but the other party has already decided you are just a friend and will remain so.

Well most of us have lived and survived the experience of being put in the horrible friend zone. For those who do not know what the definition of the friend zone, it is loosely when you  like someone and do things with them thinking it may lead to a relationship but the other party has already decided you are just a friend and will remain so.

Have I ever been friend zoned? Girl, I will be honest, I have been friend zoned once or twice in my life but I do not blame anyone but myself. I always believed that a boyfriend should be like your best friend so I decided to make these guys my friend and in that process, I experienced being a wing woman on nights out, the buddy who carried them home after the bar, watched movies cuddled up on the couch but not in a sexual manner and other things - basically things that a guy and girl can do without intimacy.

On certain drunken nights, there may have been some flirting here and there, maybe even a make out session, but this was soon forgotten as the night was. I figured if I didn’t bring it up, I would be the cool chick who thought they were cute but wasn’t against them hooking up with me and it not going anywhere!

The most awkward part of being friend zoned is when they try to hook you up with some of their friends, stating that you are too pretty and intelligent to be alone and that only the highest quality of a man (obviously one of their boys) can be with you. And in my head, I’m like but I want to try being with you!!!

Anyway, I don’t know if you have been in my position. I know a lot of guys who have, and I have been one of those perpetrators that have friend zoned many men before. I am the Queen or at least the Princess of friend zoning, I do it like I get a cheque for it at the end of the month. I do not do it on purpose but I automatically want to be friends with guys before I date them.

I feel like the dating part comes after. I have to enjoy spending time with you and how do I find this out? Well, by being friends. Once you put titles on dates and all that, the pressure to feel something for this individual is on and you will beat yourself up when you don’t feel it.

Personally, I also get bored going on different dates with dudes. I hate starting anew. I like feeling comfortable and I enjoy the fact that he remembers which shows I watch.  Also, why do men always like to remind people that they dated you first? My boyfriend from when I was 14 still likes to talk about how he had me first yet we never even kissed!

Beyonce’s first love came out of the woodwork saying that he had Queen Bey before Mr. Shawn Carter. What is even worse is that he admits he cheated on her more than five times. So basically he is a douche bag who can’t move on.

Ladies, have you been friend zoned? Or are you on the other side?
