RUHANGO — At least 20 demobilised soldiers in Ruhango district have successfully completed a six-month training in tailoring and construction, organized by the Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission.

The veterans were among the 41 students who graduated on Thursday at Gitisi Vocational Training Centre (CFMG), at a function presided over by the district director of education Claver Gasirabo.

"The training was intended to equip the ex-combatants with technical skills that will enable them re-integrate into society,” said Charles Nzisunga, the school head.

At the pass out ceremony, the graduands celebrated their achievement through dance and songs and also displayed martial arts. They pledged to remain patriotic and to work hard for development.

"We are very grateful to the government of Rwanda and we promise to stay patriotic, disciplined and determined to utilise the acquired skills to contribute to the country’s growth. And we promise to work with other Rwandans in peace and harmony,” said one of the graduands.

In his speech, Gasirabo urged the group to value the acquired skills in order for them to contribute to national development.

Gasirabo noted that most youths like office jobs and undermine vocational skills which are essential in growth and development.
