The Minister of Local Government, James Musoni, Saturday ended a three-day visit of Germany’s Rhineland-Palatinate which for long has had cooperation ties with many districts in Rwanda.
The Minister of Local Government, James Musoni, Saturday ended a three-day visit of Germany’s Rhineland-Palatinate which for long has had cooperation ties with many districts in Rwanda.
The minister led a delegation that included Rwanda’s Ambassador to Germany, Christine Nkulikiyinka, the Mayor of Nyabihu District, and the Executive Secretary of the National Youth Council.
The delegation was also accompanied by Rwandan youth participating in exchange activities with their counterparts in Germany.
The Rwandan delegation visited various stakeholders in the sector of renewable energies, a field that shall also be further promoted in the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
When Evelin Lemke-- Germany’s Vice Minister President and Minister of Economic Affairs, Climate Protection, Energy and Regional Planning met Musoni on Thursday, their talks focused on recycling economy and the Rwandan delegation visited a bio waste fermentation and composting plant in the city of Essenheim.
The delegation then visited the KSB plant in Frankenthal, a leading global manufacturer of pumps and valves. They were introduced to the company’s use of renewable energies and Musoni took the opportunity to talk to the plant’s leaders about a pilot project in Rwanda for the production of hydropower electricity.
KSB is cooperating with Rwandan students to build a small hydroelectric power station.
Musoni was later received by Minister President Malu Dreyer together with the Minister of Interior and Sports, Roger Lewentz, in Germany’s State Chancellery.
The delegation later joined Rwandans living in Germany at their annual Rwanda Day event in the city of Holzheim.
The event is organised annually by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in partnership with the office overseeing the state’s special cooperation with Rwanda.
