Commissioner of the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) Wellars Gasamagera has urged members to uphold party values, saying doing so would be the foundation of the country’s development.Gasamagera made the remarks while speaking at a training workshop for party members in Northern Province."Dignity and self-reliance are part of RPF philosophy that was promoted for years and should be upheld,” said Gasamagera.During the two-day training, participants were briefed on party history, leadership and ways to better improve the livelihood of party cadres and Rwandans in general.Participants were expected to share the knowledge acquired from the workshop with others who did not attend the training.Gasamagera said the workshop was necessary to help members improve their service delivery in their different capacities. The participants suggested that the notion of self reliance should be like a written creed to be shared with posterity.Madeleinne Rwabukumba said, "We need to be updated and keep updating other cadres on new developments as the number of cadres increase.”She said she will do her best to help other members understand their role as role models in society."The workshop was significant as we came to broaden our understanding of the history and vision of RPF. I wish all should be collected and written in one document to help us and future generations carry on with the party ideals,” said Roge Ruberwa, another participant.Party members discussed how to create off farm jobs to avoid relying on agriculture alone. The provincial party chairperson and area governor, Aime Bosenibamwe, urged members to act as engines of good governance.
