Rayon Sports to play Vital’O

Primus national league champions Rayon Sports will play against Cecafa Kagame Cup champions Vital’O on Sunday at Amahoro National Stadium.

SundayRayon Sports     1-1          EsperanceAug 25Rayon Sports     Vs            Vital’O (Amahoro)Primus national league champions Rayon Sports will play against Cecafa Kagame Cup champions Vital’O on Sunday at Amahoro National Stadium.But before that, Didier Gomeza da Roza’s team plans to play another friendly game against fellow Primus league side Amagaju FC on Wednesday.On Sunday, the seven-time national league winners drew 1-1 against league newcomers Esperance FC in Nyanza in their first pre-season match.Esperance took a surprise first-half lead through Elvis Nkuranga before last season’s league top scorer Cedric Amiss pounced with an equalizer for the Blues."We wanted to test our level and see what is missing, and this game was particularly important for us in terms of assessing the new players,” Gomez told Times Sport after the game.The Nyanza-based side will play against Amagaju on Wednesday in their second pre-season match ahead of the 2013/14 football season, which starts on September 21."We need more games before we league returns because players need to be up and running on the opening day of the season; so we need to get them ready physically and mentally,” the Frenchman said.According to Rayon Sports chairman Abdallah Murenzi, the club is also in talks with a team from DR Congo about the possibility of a friendly match.But he ruled out a friendly with a Tanzanian side as earlier reported.Rayon will be hoping not only to defend their league title but also to do well in CAF Champions League, Cecafa-Kagame Cup and Peace Cup next year.
