Rwanda Karate Federation has organised a new competition dubbed Karate Liberation Cup scheduled for Saturday, August 5, in Rubavu town.

Karate Liberation Cup, happening for the first time, is a new competition introduced as the national Karate fraternity joins the nation in celebrating the liberation struggle's achievements.

The Secretary General of Rwanda Karate Federation, Elvis Bugingo, told The New Times that the competition is in line with the Liberation Day festivities where all Rwandans celebrate the country’s achievements.

The competition will be followed, on Sunday, by Karate training sessions on the beach.

The acting Mayor of Rubavu District, Deogratias Nzabonimpa, said: "It’s part of sports development activities for Rubavu residents at large.”

Rubavu town is also hosting IRONMAN70.3 edition two.
