Ugandan-born tactician Sam Ssimbwa is confident Police FC will be among the top contenders for the 2013/14 Primus National Football League title.Ssimbwa made the remarks after his team played out a 2-all draw against Uganda Super League champions KCCA FC in a pre-season friendly match at Stade de Kigali on Sunday.Innocent Habyarimana and Emmanuel Sebanani put the hosts ahead before the visitors equalised through William Wadavi and Tom Matsiko.Ssimbwa said, "It’s a pre-season game but we really wanted to win it just like we would in a competitive math but we shall take the draw. I wanted to asses my players in a match situation. We prepared well for the game but KCCA is a good team.”"The game helped me take a better look at where we need to improve before the news season starts,” noted the former Atraco FC coach, Ssimbwa.He added, "I want to build a strong team which will challenge for the (league) title next season. Winning the league title is my first priority but I know it won’t be easy to compete with the top teams like APR and Rayon Sports; nonetheless, we will give it our best shot possible.”"We are going to be competitors, not participants,” added the ex-Ugandan international.The former Sofapaka coach’s first task in the upcoming season will be to improve the team in the local Primus League having finished second in the last two seasons as well as the Peace Cup.He will also need to preside over a successful campaign in the 2014 CAF Confederations Cup.Police have yet to win the league.
