Babil Group pumps Rfw25m in Super Cup

Rwanda Football Federation has reached an agreement with a Turkish construction company Babil Group of Companies (Babilaks Construction Limited) to sponsor the inaugural Super Cup to a tune of Rwf25m.

Rwanda Football Federation has reached an agreement with a Turkish construction company Babil Group of Companies (Babilaks Construction Limited) to sponsor the inaugural Super Cup to a tune of Rwf25m.The match that pits together the league champions, Rayon Sports and Peace Cup against Malaria winners, AS Kigali, will be played on September 1 at Amahoro national stadium.The winner will walk away with Rwf5m and the runners-up will take home Rwf2m, while the rest of the money will go into organising the event.According to Mustafa Cem, the head of international development office at Babilaks, the two parties have agreed to the partnership for the first ever Super Cup match."We have agreed with Football Federation to sponsor the Super Cup,” Cen told the media on Friday.He added, "We are happy that we are going to be the first to sponsor the inaugural Super Cup, which has not happened in Rwanda before and will continue to sponsor this event for as long as both parties still need each other.”"Our target is to play a part in the development of Rwandan sports, not only football but even other games,” he noted.The Rwanda football governing body, (Ferwafa) boss Celestin Ntagungira ‘Abega’, while confirming the deal, said the money will go into covering all expenses for the event.He said, "We are happy to have Babil Group on board as our partners for this match. We would like to thank them for their contribution in the development of sports in the country, particularly football.”"This is the first step and we hope, this company will continue to help us on building our football because they are interested,” he noted.Babil Group agreed with Ministry of Sports and Culture to build a 40.000-seater stadium in Gahanga-Kigali which shall be completed before 2016 in order to host the African Nations Championship (CHAN).The stadium project at Gahanga will also include a man-made lake, Park, Hotel, conference halls, shopping mall and other various training facilities.
