Who will call HRW to order?

Only a few hours after issuing yet another scathing report on the conflict in Eastern DRC and pack of lies against Rwanda, including the assertion from one of their many unnamed “former M23 fighters”, that he, the fighter, was Rwandan and that he had served in one of the country’s peace keeping contingents in Somalia!

Only a few hours after issuing yet another scathing report on the conflict in Eastern DRC and pack of lies against Rwanda, including the assertion from one of their many unnamed "former M23 fighters”, that he, the fighter, was Rwandan and that he had served in one of the country’s peace keeping contingents in Somalia!

Human Rights Watch was quick to realise that this concocted lie this time round, was so plain, glaring and Embarrassing that they had to do what they have mastered over the years: Run to the media with another counter press statement  apparently to do damage control.Part of the ‘damage control’ press statement read:   "In fact, Rwandan peacekeepers served in Darfur but not in Somalia, We erred in including it, but we still stand by our report and the findings are accurate’’. This is your typical Human Rights Watch. They are the ‘’watchers’’ and judges at the same time. Even though they know the report is a fabrication, they still have the arrogance to say they stand by their lies! For Rwanda, it is a well documented fact that Human Rights Watch has over the years, constructed a narrative, where recycled lies are released every year, in the name of reports , just for this NGO to raise funds , at the same time foment conflict, and suffering of especially, the Congolese civilians , whose rights they claim to be ‘watching’.HRW has been cited by many as the most secretive, non-transparent and closed organisation in the World. Its multi-million dollar budgets are managed by few individuals within the organisation .It is alleged, the perennial decision to malign Rwanda is the organisation’s political dispensation and long term agenda meant to serve two purposes; one is political, the other is financial and the two objectives complement each other as they allow HRW to go all over the place selling lies as they fund-raise for the next ‘’follow-up report’’ on Rwanda.Reliable reports indicate that in all their ‘reports’ about Rwanda, HRW has been paying and buying witnesses to fabricate stories. The Unit price is commensurate with the category of the lie and how indicting such a lie is to Rwanda. HRW’s Executive Director, Kenneth Roth a former prosecutor and ardent FDLR apologist has consistently allocated all his energies and HRW’s resources against Rwanda. It  is alleged that he is passionate and  very good at elaborating fiction whenever it comes to Rwanda .Who will watch Human Rights watch? In any democratic settings, institutions and NGO’S are subject to checks and balances and are accountable to their Boards. Who then will check this powerful political and resource-rich NGO that seems accountable to no one? Where is the slightest semblance of HRW’s moral authority to preach political ethics to legitimate and elected governments, when they can lie with impunity and get a way with it?Is any one out there considering asking HRW to tell the readers of their latest lies which Rwandan contingent ever served in Somalia?. By this very blatant lie, HRW has self-indicted itself and ought to own up, swallow any pride they may have and disown the whole report, other than simply saying "we erred but still stand by our findings”.HRW’S silence as marauding militias wreck mayhemFor almost two decades now, Eastern DRC has been and still is a haven and home to as many as more than ten marauding militia groups, some of them known terrorist groups, like the FDLR, best remembered for the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. For all this time, the mutating militia has killed, raped women and young girls at will, and devastated the whole of Eastern DRC .In all this , HRW has been conspicuously adamant and silent.

The greatest obstacle to peace in the DRC in general and Eastern Congo in particular is State Failure. For HRW to continue to issue these fabrications and lies against Rwanda for her alleged support of M23 is a case of barking up the wrong tree.
