First game (Thursday) Rwanda 0-3 Egypt

Second game (Friday) Rwanda 1-3 Egypt

Rwanda national volleyball senior team captain Christophe Mukunzi says his team will correct "slight mistakes” that led them to two consecutive losses to Egypt 3-0 and 3-1 on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

Egypt humiliated Rwanda in a three-set match 25-23, 28-26 and 31-29 in Thursday’s first-leg before again beating them in four sets 21-25,25-21,25-23 and 25-22 in the second game on Friday.

"We were not dominated remarkably but slight mistakes made us lose the two matches; we are looking forward to preparing as earlier as possible for  the zonal stage due in November, team captain Mukunzi told the press after the second tie on Friday.

"Although we lost, the good game we showed signals a bright future. I think no team can easily get a set from us in the region,” he said.

Apart from Egypt and Rwanda, Ethiopia and Sudan were the other two members of Group but they snubbed the tourney, and their absence means that Rwanda, despite the two defeats, still qualifies for the next round, which will be held in Kigali in November.

Rwanda will be looking to make the most of home advantage when they host Zone V Championships where they will be eyeing qualification to the third and final round.

The top three teams in Pool ‘H’ which is made up of Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and Uganda will join the duo (Rwanda and Egypt) in the November tournament.
