Mount Kenya University on Wednesday donated Rwf2.5 million to Genocide survivors enrolled in its local campuses. Prof. Musa Nyakora, the principal of the Kenyan university in Kigali, likened the gesture to Kenya’s ‘Harambee’ idea where people have always come together to mobilise resources for a noble cause.

Prof. Nyakora urged the youth to always work together to support needy students.

Daniel Komezusenge, the head of the Forum of Rwandan Higher Institutions of Learning Students’ Unions, called on other universities to emulate the gesture and help students in their academic endeavours.  The funds were collected by both students and staff of the university.
