To FARDC: Protect people instead of intimidating them

Editor,This is the reason why rebels will continue fighting the DRC government – the government that has no discipline. I sympathise with the Congolese population who have such an army that doesn’t know that they are supposed to protect citizens along with their properties.

Editor,This is the reason why rebels will continue fighting the DRC government – the government that has no discipline. I sympathise with the Congolese population who have such an army that doesn’t know that they are supposed to protect citizens along with their properties. The world has refused to understand that Congo leadership has no capacity to control it’s army, and if this continues, I am sure this civil war is going to escalate everywhere in Congo thus making the problem more complicated.M23 wanted negotiations with the government but like the regional saying that you can never trust the DRC government, DR Congo government has resorted to war which I do believe they will never win with a gun. Whoever participated in this kind of inhuman behaviour [desecrating the dead] is cursed.John, Kampala, UgandaReaction to the story, "UN chief condemns M23 mistreatment”, (The New Times, July 18)
