The best thin-crust pizza in Kigali is Sol e Luna’s specialty. With 59 types of pizza to choose from, as well as the option of creating your own pizza from an extensive list of toppings, dinner at Sole Luna is an exercise not only in good taste and relaxing ambience, but in decision making amidst a dizzying array of options.

The menu offers a range of traditional Italian fare – pizza, lasagna, bruschetta, pastas, and salads with extensive selections of meat and fish options, as well as vegetarian dishes.

The desert menu offers gelato and tiramisu, amongst other Italian favorites. Sol e Luna also offers a bar and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including milk shakes and fruit drinks.

Nestled in a garden with a view of the Kigali hills that glitter at night, Sole Luna is situated in the midst of greenery. The atmosphere is relaxed and the sitting arrangements varied, with tables covered in red table-cloths; each with one candle waiting to be lit as you begin your meal situated on an elevated wooden deck looking out on Kigali or below leafy, crawling vines.

Particularly delicious dishes include the onions and beans dish, as well as the Vegeteriana pizza, which comes with an unusual but hearty and appetizing mix of vegetables that include potatoes.

The pizzas in the Frw3500 range offer the best value, and the restaurant is flexible about replacing meat toppings with vegetarian choices.

Sole Luna’s pizzas are delicate in texture and do not overwhelm the palate. The quality of the cheese used is excellent, and it is never too heavy.

However, sometimes the tomato sauce used in the pizzas lacks salt, and sometimes you may find it necessary to add some spices to your pizza.

Service is a good quality and food is prepared in a reasonable amount of time. For ambience, quality of the food, and sheer diversity of offerings, Sol e Luna is one of Kigali’s best dining options.

Sole Luna, located near Kisementi Crossroads and Chez Lando, is closed on Mondays.
