Ruterana eyes KBC Kenya Open

RWANDA’S professional golfer Emmanuel Ruterana has started intensive preparations ahead of this year’s edition of KBC Kenya Golf Open tournament set for August 8-11 at Laser lodge golf club in Mombasa, Kenya.

RWANDA’S professional golfer Emmanuel Ruterana has started intensive preparations ahead of this year’s edition of KBC Kenya Golf Open tournament set for August 8-11 at Laser lodge golf club in Mombasa, Kenya.Speaking to Saturday Sports, Ruterana said, "I am ready for the upcoming contest. I am having good training at Nyarutarama Golf Club and my aim is to improve on my game and be able to claim the title.”"I am searching for sponsors to enable me realise my ambition and hopefully something will be reached before the tournament’s date.”"I have gained enough experience from these regional tournaments in the past three editions and my target is to end Kenyan dominance and win the championship,” added Ruterana.Ruterana is expected to head to Nairobi for acclimatisation before the end of this month where he hopes to use Nyari Golf Club in Mombasa as his training base before the main tournament begins next door at Laser Lodge Golf Club located in Mombasa.Ruterana who will be marking his fourth consecutive appearance made his debut in the international golf tournament in 2010 when he finished 14th and the next year, improved to ninth.Last year, Ruterana finished fourth behind Kenyan Nicholas Rokoine to pocket Rwf 1.2 million worth of cash prize. Besides Ruterana, Ernest Ndayisaba and Jean Bapista Hakizimana are the two other Rwandan golfers who will compete in this year’s KCB Kenya Open.Hakizimana will be using the KCB Open to prepare for the Asian Golf Tour set for September to November.
