Editor,

Among the social protection programmes, let us also talk about the needy students in higher education. The new student loan scheme should be revised to take into account the necessity of giving loans to students under category 3 and 4 of Ubudehe scheme, so that they are able to pay tuition fees.

Therefore, the government should instruct the Ministry of Education and Rwanda Education Board to look into this and make a new proposal whereby students in the two categories mentioned above are given 100% loan to cover tuition fees and let them strive on their own to find their living allowance.

This may help them in a certain way to continue their studies.
