Kampala to hold East African business summit

Top executives, development practitioners and government technocrats are set to meet in Kampala this July to deliberate on issues that can make East Africa a more competitive area to do business.

Top executives, development practitioners and government technocrats are set to meet in Kampala this July to deliberate on issues that can make East Africa a more competitive area to do business.

The meeting scheduled to take place from the 17th to the 19th of this month, under the theme ‘Enhancing East Africa’s Competitiveness’ will bring together the region’s best business minds and leaders to address insights into the specific trade barriers in the region.

It is scheduled to take place at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Among other things, the conference will be used as an opportunity for executives from across East Africa to network, share ideas and gain knowledge to support leadership and business growth within the region.

Kitili Mbathi, the Managing Director of Stanbic Bank—the official sponsors of the event said, "We have had consultations in Nairobi, Kigali, Dar es Salaam and Bujumbura and the response is positive.

Its time for the East African Business community and leaders to come together and share ideas on how we can make the EAC a competitive area in business.”

The summit is set to be used as a platform to provide business leaders and decision makers with a more interactive approach to issues through provoking topics that will be discussed by well known business thinkers and expert panelists from allover the world.

Competitiveness, building East African brands, regional food and energy supply and sources, integrating ICT in business, the role of the private sector and business model innovations are among issues to be discussed.

"Companies, government bodies and the private sector should all use this opportunity,” said Mbathi.
