Primus Cup champions Rayon Sports have cleared the second installment of US$10,000 (approx. Rfw6.500.000) of the US$30,000 (approx. Rwf19.9m) the club owed former coach Raoul Shungu.The reigning champions who had already paid Rwf8m in April this year have promised to clear the remaining installment worth US$9,300 before the start of the next season.Rayon Sports club Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya said yesterday, "We have cleared the first two installments as promised and hope to clear the last batch before the league starts in September,”Gakwaya added that they are committed to resolving the issue for good.Shungu took Rayon Sports to Fifa after his third stint at the club ended on a sour note in 2008 when he was sacked under unclear circumstances.After several failed attempts to get the attention of the club to clear his arrears, he decided to take the club to FIFA which ordered Rayon Sports early this year to either pay Shungu or risk being relegated to the second division league on top of other penalties.Shungu is considered by many as Rayon’s most successful coach after guiding the club to the Cecafa Club championship in 1998 and three league titles in 1997, 1998 and 2002.Between 2004 and 2008, Shungu served as the national technical director for the Seychelles football federation. He returned to the Blues towards the end of 2008 but his stay was short-lived after falling out with the club’s hierarchy.
